Sailor Moon 13

Episode 15 Subbed: "Usagi is Frantic! Rei's First Date"  Ep.12 Dubbed: "An Unnatural Phenomena"

---The girls go to a park. Ami introduces the gardener who works there as Mr.Backster in the Dubbed and Onji-san (grandfather/elderly) in the English Sub.

---After he says that the park is being torn down Rei thinks in Japanese that she needs to take her boyfriend there before its torn down and in English she thinks she needs to get her grandfather to help.
In my opinion the Japanese version suits her personality more.

---The next scene with Luna,  Darien/Mamoru and Andrew/Motoki is way rushed in the english dub!

---OMG when Serena/Usagi plays the Sailor V video game the colors are significantly different!! I don't understand why but here it is...
Dubbed

Subbed

---The gardener and another man were talking
English version:The man told him that there were plenty of other jobs like being a janitor
Japanese version: He said that the the construction had been canceled by mysterious animal attacks

---Serena/Usagi met up with Ami
English version: Serena talked about how she couldn't stand being with Melvin and Luna said it was criminal the way she treated him

Japanese version: Ami warned Usagi that something terrible was happening in the park

---Sailors Mercury & Mars stole Sailor Moon's line Dubbed: "on behalf of  Mercury and Mars..." Subbed: "on behalf of the moon..."

---In the Japanese version Rei still holds on the the idea that  Mamoru is Tuxedo Mask and in the English she doesn't say anything like that.

Sailor Moon 12

Episode 14 Japanese Subbed: "Match Point for Sailor Moon" Ep. 11 English Dubbed: "A Powerful New Enemy! Nephrite's Evil Crest"

---There is a small point where it introduces the popular tennis player that was edited out of the English version.

---Luna gets information about the evil guys.
Japanese version:  her password is: "the rabbit on the moon makes rice cakes" and the computer responds "The moon rice cakes are sticky." so Luna says back "When I grilled them, they puffed up" xD
It said that the enemy was from the Dark Kingdom.
English version: password is: "Kitty stalks in moonlight" computer responds:"Kitty will be fed." and Luna says "Kitty craves her catnip."
The enemy is from a different detention called the Megaverse.

The rest of the episode was very much the same :)

Compair Dragon Ball ep.2

Episode 2 Translated title: "What the...?! No Balls!" Dubbed title: "The Emperor's Quest"

---The first difference that I noticed, was a small conversation Goku and Bulma had when she was trying to take a bath.
Japanese version: Goku said that she had a butt on her chest :D and that he was fourteen years old. Because she found out he was only two years younger than her she started throwing things at Goku to make him get out!
English version: Goku comes in to scrub her back, since she didn't have a tail to do it herself! and the way he annoyed her and how she kicked him out reminds me so much of me and my younger brother when he comes into my room :)

---The next scene it was the bad guys Pilaf and Shu.
Japanese version: Pilaf tells Shu that he needs to find the Dragon Balls before some other really evil guy bent on world domination gets them xD and that he would be a kind-hearted ruler that would purify the world of people urinating in public and farting. (he says this right before farting himself and blaming it on Shu)
English version: Shu says that he came back because he was really hungry and Pilaf explains to Shu that one dragon ball isn't enough using metaphors.

---As Goku and Bulma were heading to sleep
Japanese version: Goku talked about how he slept in the same bed as his grandpa. Later he said that Bulma had probably been abandoned because she had a butt on her chest as she thought Goku had been abandoned because he had a tail.
English version: Bulma said that since he could eat centipedes he could rough it and sleep on the floor. After, she said that he didn't have to keep his tail, that some dogs get them cut off. Then she guesses that Goku is from a different planet!!

Sailor Moon 11

Episode 13 Japanese English Subbed: Girl Power! The End of Jadeite & Episode 10 English Dubbed: Fight to the Finish

These episodes were so much alike! In some parts the English Dubbed & Subtitled said the same exact thing :D Surprised me a lot. The one big difference in dialogue though that I saw was when Jadeite and the sailors were about to fight, right after he had fought Tuxedo Mask.
English Subbed: Jadeite said "Women are such foolish creatures to the end!" and the whole next conversation was about the Sailors protecting women's equality and girls rule!
Dubbed version: Jadeite insulted them and they talked about defeating him with teamwork and friendship!

Another thing was that -in the english subbed-Jadeite said a few times that he was going to send them to hell. It was edited out of the Dubbed for obvious reasons.

I thought it was so cute that in the Japanese version when Usagi and Mamoru meet they both say again?! and she sticks her tongue out at him.

Compare Dragon Ball Ep. 1

I've always loved Dragon Ball Z as I watched it when I was young along with Inuyasha, Bleach, Sailor Moon- the usual. I haven't watched it in a really long time though. So I went back and started watching DBZ from the first episode, it referred back to previous times a lot. That's when I found out that there was in fact a Dragon Ball before DBZ! *I feel dumb for not knowing that* Now I am going to start from the very beginning and then watch DBZ, GT, & Kai.

Well I know their is a debate between which is better: English dubbed or Japanese subbed. I'll watch both, compare, then tell you what I think.

Episode 1: Bulma and Son Goku (sub)/ The Secret of the Dragon Balls (dub)
The first thing I have to talk about is the opening song that only appears in the Japanese Sub. I love it! and its a shame that it isn't in the English version. It's strange but cool that the English version left the ending song.

First words spoken by the narrator: Subbed- "Long ago in an age before our time on a mountain thousands of miles away from civilization, there lived a young boy who lived with nature."
Dubbed- "Far away in an enchanted land that seemed untouched by the steady march of time, there lived an old master named Gohan who found a baby boy abandoned in the wilderness of the region and raised him as his own child and marveled as the youngster grew and became uncommonly strong."

Other than that there wasn't many other differences- just very small ones like Bulma calling Goku an asshole and the Hoi Poi Capsules were renamed Dino Caps in the Dubbed. Also the fish talked in the Japanese version but didn't in the other.

These are details given in the Subbed version that weren't transferred: the name of the dragon is Shen Long and Bulma said that a man collected all the dragon balls and became king and they'd been scattered  ever since.

All in all: no big difference and good pilot episode. It showed how strong Goku was and introduced Bulma, the dragon balls and the bad guys.

Sailor Moon 10

As I already mentioned the other 1-9 Sailor Moon posts are on my other blog that I can't access.
Episode 12 Japanese Subbed: I Want a Boyfriend Too! A Trap on a Luxury Cruise Ship
Ep. 9 English Subbed: Cruise Blues
*It starts off that Jedite is talking to a new evil person Tetis who adores him but he doesn't like her at all. It seemed to me that he was harsher to her in the English version. In the Japanese version he mentioned that she worked directly under Queen Beryl but not in the Dubbed.

*Usagi/Serena says in school that she wants to go on the romantic cruise ship. Umino has a dream of him and Usagi falling in love on the ship but then she punches him! This whole part was edited out of the English Dubbed version.

*In the English version as Rei is trying to win tickets to the cruise in a raffle, using her good luck juju, some intense music plays. Of course all throughout this series the background music is different.

*After Rei and Ami's energy wasn't taken, the evil side has two very different conversations in the English and Japanese vrsions. Subbed: They talked about how much energy they collected Dubbed: They couldn't get rid of the two unless they used some of the energy they had collected.

*There is a point where Rei is mad and wants to get back at Jedite and Tetis for emberresing her. In the Dubbed though she says that she has to help Sailor Moon and that made the thought bubble make no sense at all.

*At the end Queen Beryl was punishing Jedite in the Subbed because he had used and killed Tetis but in the Dubbed she was just angry that he had failed again and he talked out of turn.
